I didn't expect to be able to visit in 2022, or at any point in the near future. But when the Hong Kong government announced the borders were opening and the quarantine would be dropped, I knew I had to go find out how much the place had changed. I last visited in 2019, a tumultuous year for the city, to say the least. So many things had happened since then, and most of the world didn't notice. So my plan was to hit the streets and get some answers. Slater’s maternal grandmother who lives in Hong Kong celebrated her 99th birthday and we made sure to be there for the very special occasion. As much as we wanted to bring both kids, we couldn’t get Sevi’s passport ready so we took Scott alone with us. It felt nice to have that one-on-one bonding time with him again since I’m usually with Sevi when I’m at home. Being a mom of 2 is harder than I expected, especially when it comes to splitting time between work and both kids. I guess it just takes some adjustment and compassion on both sides, but I’m thankful we are able to make it work somehow. Surprisingly, the trip was a success! Even without yaya for the first time, Scott was a champ and really easy to handle the whole time. He was amazed at the simplest things- like how big the roads were, or how many people could fit in a subway. Watching him experience these things for the first time was the best feeling and I can’t wait for more firsts with him and of course with Sevi in the future. Hope you guys enjoy this one!
